The President receives his Eritrean counterpart as part of the activities of the summit of Sudan’s neighboring countries to settle the crisis peacefully

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received President of Eritrea Isaias Afwerki at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, on the sidelines of Sudan’s Neighboring States Summit that is held in Cairo.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency of stated that the President affirmed Egypt’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and to consolidate cooperation and joint projects with Eritrea in various fields. President Afwerki expressed his country’s mutual aspiration to develop bilateral relations with Egypt at various levels, especially at the current time when the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region are witnessing many successive challenges. In this regard, he praised the Egyptian positions aimed at achieving regional stability.

The Spokesman added that the meeting discussed developments in the situation in Sudan, and the efforts of neighboring countries to settle the crisis in order to spare the blood of the brotherly Sudanese people. In this regard, it was agreed to enhance coordination and joint consultation in order to support security and stability in the region.
